BIO

Gregg is a retired Royal Canadian Navy, Senior Officer. He joined the Navy in 1971 and retired in 2013. He attended Royal Roads Military College and then The Royal Military College of Canada graduating with a BA(Hons)in English and Philosophy He received his MA in Defence Studies from King’s College, University of London in 1995.

He joined the fleet in 1976 serving in varying capacities on several ships as a junior officer. Later he served as second in command of several ships, Commanding Officer of a ship, and on
the Staff of the Commander Canadian Naval Task Group Middle East during the Persian Gulf War, 1990-91.

Ashore he served on the staff of the Maritime Headquarters; as an instructor at the Maritime Warfare Centre; and as the Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor of the Naval Operations School. He had two exchange appointments with the Royal Naval; one as a Tactics Instructor at the School of Maritime Operations, HMS DRYAD; the other as a student on the Royal Naval Staff Course at the Royal Naval College Greenwich.

He served in the National Headquarters Ottawa as a Maritime Requirements Officer and later a Maritime Force Development Officer. He was also the was the Project Director for several acquisition projects: most notably the ¾ billion dollar Major Crown Project to acquire 12 Maritime Coastal Defence Vessels.

Gregg was appointed to the Faculty of the Royal Military College of Canada in 1999 where he became an assistant professor teaching and developing courses in history, ethics, leadership, and defence policy. In 2004, he was appointed to the Canadian Forces College Toronto where he was an instructor and the Senior Curriculum Developer for two graduate Level coursesLeadership and Ethics & Command and Management.

He is a Board-certified Master Coach and Trainer who specializes in communications and leadership.
